The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule marks one of the most significant advancements in general aviation in decades. Alongside the FAA fellow Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), industry partners, Pipistrel and Textron Aviation contributed to the development of the MOSAIC framework and the supporting industry standards, helping shape how the next generation of aircraft and pilot training solutions will be designed, certified and brought to market.

MOSAIC is expected to be a transformational update to the regulatory framework governing light sport aircraft and sport pilot operations. By expanding the types of aircraft that can be certified and flown under sport pilot privileges, MOSAIC opens the door for new technologies, modern training solutions and greater access to aviation. For Pipistrel and Textron Aviation, MOSAIC represents more than a regulatory milestone. It reflects years of collaboration and leadership helping shape the future of aviation.

The FAA’s MOSAIC rules are expected to take effect later this month.
